Cuba is travelled mostly through Havana and the colonial towns beyond it — Trinidad, Cienfuegos, Vinales in the tobacco valleys — with the beach resorts at Varadero operating largely separately from the rest. Havana's architecture ranges from restored to visibly deteriorating, often on the same street.
