Leads its history from 1536. The very heart of Malmö. It translates as "large area". The main historical buildings are located here - the Town Hall, the residence of the governor, the hotel "Kramer", the oldest pharmacy in the city "Leionet". In the center there is a monument to Charles X Gustav, the king who managed to win back a number of Swedish provinces from the Danes and conclude a truce with them in 1658. There is also a beautiful fountain built on the site of a drinking well of the 16th century.
The original old building, decorated with bas-reliefs and sculptures of famous historical figures, bears little resemblance to a strict administrative institution. Construction work began in the 16th century. Subsequently, the building was rebuilt and expanded. And in the 19th century, after a global reconstruction, the town hall received new front facades in the then fashionable Renaissance style. Only 3 halls are available for inspection today. There is a restaurant in the basement of the building.
A pretty square in the center of Malmö surrounded by medieval houses. Its name is translated as "small". It was founded in the XVI century for trade, this tradition continues to this day. And in the late afternoon, the square turns into a center of fun - discos, restaurants and nightclubs open here. Every year, on the eve of Christmas, a 6-meter table lamp with a luminous lampshade is installed in the center of the square, which can talk.
One of the oldest castles in Sweden, which has managed to visit the royal residence, defensive fortress, prison, barracks and mint over its long history. Its walls are surrounded on all sides by an embankment and a moat filled with water. The bridge thrown over it leads to the gate tower with bells. St. Peter's Church
Old red brick church in the German Gothic style. It was built by German merchants for 100 years in the XIII-XIV centuries. It is famous for fragments of original frescoes of the 15th century, as well as a magnificent carved altar of the 17th century, one of the largest in Northern Europe. Church of Saint John
The majestic red brick and granite building was erected in 1907. It has soft rounded shapes and is a vivid example of Art Nouveau style. The temple is named in honor of one of the apostles - John. The total height with the tower is 60 meters. The interior of the temple is decorated with numerous roses made of wood and stone. For this reason, the locals sometimes call it the "church of the roses". It is located near the railway station Triangeln.
Technical and Maritime Museum
One of the most interesting and informative museums in the city. Located near Malmö Castle. Here you can see a model of the first car, a tricycle of 1885, a steam locomotive, horse-drawn carts, motorcycles, airplanes, a real submarine, a collection of old technical devices and tools. All exhibits are active, they can be studied, touched and even controlled. The museum also presents interactive expositions and a scientific "experimentanium".
It has one of the largest exhibition halls in Europe. Built in 1975 from concrete, glass, wood and aluminium. The gallery's unusual lattice ceiling combines artificial and natural lighting and constantly changes height, giving the exhibits a unique look. It presents an extensive collection of Scandinavian contemporary art from a variety of trends - paintings, icons, unusual installations, sculptures, handicrafts.
Modern Art Museum
. The works of Swedish and foreign artists of the last century and the present are presented. The main exposition is located in the engine room of the power plant, which was left unchanged. The building has a gift shop and cafe.
The theater building in the style of classical modernism was erected in 1944. At the end of the last century it was declared an architectural monument. The theater foyer is decorated with works by local artists and sculptors, as well as magnificent marble staircases. The auditorium is designed for 1.5 thousand seats and is one of the largest in Scandinavia. Of interest is the revolving stage and the lowering floor of the hall, which makes it possible to remove the orchestra pit to increase the interior space.
Sculpture "Knotted Pistol"
The famous sculpture called "No to violence!" Created by Swedish Carl Reutersworth. 16 of its variants are installed in different cities of the world - Beijing, Berlin, Luxembourg, New York and others. But the very first monument in the form of a revolver with a tied muzzle, symbolizing disarmament, was opened in 1985 in Malmö. The senseless murders of famous people prompted the author to create such a monument. In particular, the tragic death of John Lennon.

The futuristic building of the fashionable architect Santiago Calatrava rises on the shores of the Eressun Strait, in the Western Harbor. The 54-story white-stone skyscraper with a spiral facade is the tallest building in Scandinavia. Its height is 190 meters. The official opening took place in 2005. Inside there are offices, conference rooms and luxury apartments. Free access to the masterpiece of architecture is limited, because it is private property.
Emporia Shopping Center

Luxurious Royal Park in the central part of the city. The oldest in Malmö, was first opened to visitors in 1872. When designing the park area, the principles of the English landscape were taken into account - the territory looks as natural as possible. Plants are selected in such a way as to delight vacationers with lush flowering all year round. The central zone is decorated with a large fountain, there are several canals and lakes. For those who wish, a casino is open.
It is located next to the Royal Park, on the territory of Malmö Castle. It translates as "Palace Park". Founded in 1900. Slottsparken is grassy lawns, open fields, forest areas, a beautiful flower garden, canals and ponds, playgrounds. Every year a colorful flower festival is held here, as well as a number of other events. In the park area there are greenhouses and beds where organic vegetables, herbs and spices are grown. The opening of the park took place in 1914 and was timed to coincide with the Baltic Exhibition of the latest technologies. It occupies an area of 45 hectares - this is the largest city park. On its territory there is an old pond, created in the 17th century and serving as a city reservoir. The city sandy beach with a length of 3 km is the most visited in Malmö. There are places for entertainment, cafes, kiosks, marinas, a territory for nudists. But the main attraction of the beach area is the open-air baths. They were built at the end of the 19th century and have historical value. Recently restored, the baths continue to receive visitors at any time of the year. They include men's, women's and one common sauna, a cafe and a restaurant.
