Before the reconstruction in 1983, Capdepera stood abandoned for almost 200 years.

Lyuk Monastery

The Lluc Monastery is an important center of pilgrimage in Mallorca. The monastery was founded in the XIII century in the mountains of the Sierra de Tramontana. According to legend, the local shepherd Luke found a black figurine of the Virgin Mary in the forest, which he gave to the village priest. Soon the figurine disappeared and ended up in the same place where the shepherd had first seen it. Then it was decided to build a church and a monastery there.
